Stitched Limpet Brooch 89

Each individual limpet shell brooch is hand stitched using a cotton/silk thread and a great deal of patience. I use a needle-weaving technique, building up a constructed textile surface that sits within the incomplete shell. Each one is unique, just as each shell on the beach is an individual. This limpet is unusually large.

The brooch pin has a revolver safety catch and is hand stitched to wool felt and secured to the back of the stitched shell.

This brooch measures approximately 5 cm x 4.5 cm x 1.5 cm with a 3.5 cm brooch pin on the back.
