Stitched Limpet Brooch 87

Each individual limpet shell brooch is hand stitched using a cotton/silk thread and a great deal of patience. I use a needle-weaving technique, building up a constructed textile surface that sits within the incomplete shell. Each one is unique, just as each shell on the beach is an individual.

The brooch pin has a revolver safety catch and is hand stitched to wool felt and secured to the back of the stitched shell.

This brooch measures approximately 4 cm x 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm with a 3.5 cm brooch pin on the back.
