Postcards from Plot 105 : 10.07.20
During this strange spring and summer of 2020 I am working regularly at my allotment plot, treating the shed as a make-shift studio. I am sketching more regularly, adding daily to a sketchbook. In a time of physical isolation I wanted to celebrate and send news of the small changes happening: leaves unfurling, birds conversing, the wind in the apple trees...
In order to share these details I'm making a regular series of small postcard sized artwork including hand written text, sketching and colour directly from plants using botanical contact printing: Postcards from Plot 105.
Artwork measures 11 cm x 15 cm on 300gsm water colour paper.
Drawing in pen with natural colour from plants using botanical contact printing.
Series of up to 20 made in each batch. This week features prints made using wild rose and bindweed leaves.
Each in the series are similar but are made individually so some variation occurs. Comes with an envelope in case you wish to send it on as a postcard.
This artwork is part if the Artist Support Pledge, started by Matthew Burrows in response to Covid-19 crisis, generating income for self-employed artists who have lost free-lance work. Artists post work for sale under £200 and when they reach £1000 worth of sales through the scheme they pledge to spend £200 on another artist's work.
